If the F35 fault first appeared after an extension, roofing work, cladding or another building project, tell the engineer - that timing may be diagnostically useful.
Wind: strong weather conditions can potentially affect combustion and flue behaviour, but Vaillant does not define F35 simply as a wind fault. If F35 repeatedly appears during strong winds, that pattern may give the engineer useful information about terminal position, flue-gas recirculation, air supply or surrounding building conditions. The correct long-term solution is not to repeatedly reset the boiler whenever the wind becomes strong - the installation conditions should be investigated.
Frozen condensate: potentially, because Vaillant includes blocked condensate drainage among possible F35 conditions on applicable boilers. However, a frozen condensate pipe should not automatically be assumed - Vaillant associates frozen condensate pipes much more directly with F28 and F29 faults. F32 vs F35: F32 asks whether the fan is operating correctly. F35 asks whether the air/flue system is operating under acceptable conditions. F33 vs F35: saying "F35 means the air-pressure switch has failed" is not technically robust. Pressure-switch or pressure-sensor faults sit much more directly within the F33 diagnostic family on boilers that use that code, while F35 more specifically identifies the air/flue gas duct or blocked air/flue pipe.
F25 vs F35: F25 concerns abnormal flue-gas temperature. F35 concerns an abnormal air/flue route condition. One should not be used as the definition of the other.
F29 vs F35: F29 means the boiler established combustion, lost the flame and failed to reignite. F35 means the boiler has specifically detected an unacceptable condition associated with the air/flue system. F35 is not a carbon-monoxide detector code. It tells us that the boiler has detected a problem associated with its air/flue system. Does F35 Mean the Flue, Fan or PCB Needs Replacing?
No, not automatically for any of these. A complete replacement flue should not automatically be recommended because F35 appears - the underlying fault could involve an obstruction, terminal conditions, incorrect installation, a damaged section, condensate, combustion-air supply or another model-specific component. If the flue itself is physically damaged or unsuitable, repair or replacement of relevant sections may be required, but professional inspection must come first. Similarly, Vaillant uses F32 specifically for fan faults; the fan forms part of the wider combustion system and may need to be assessed where appropriate, but an F35 code alone is not sufficient evidence that the fan has failed. And while some third-party articles add the PCB to almost every Vaillant fault-code cause list, Vaillant's current general F35 guidance does not simply define the code as a PCB failure - electronic controls may become relevant on certain boilers where diagnosis points that way, but a PCB should not be replaced solely because F35 is displayed.

Can Regular Servicing Prevent F35?
